Commencing Semester 1, 2017
Irene Chassagnon
Postdoc
Commencing July 2017
Clancy Lott
Honours student
Clancy completed an undergraduate project in Biochemistry in the lab in semester 2 of 2016. He has returned to undertake an Honours project on multifunctional enzymes.
Sarah Piper
PhD student
Sarah's PhD work is focused on using cryo-EM and association molecular techniques to investigate the structure of novel targets for bioinsectide development. She is funded by a UQ International Scholarship.
Lou Brillault
PhD student
Lou recently commenced a PhD project studying the composition and structure of protein complexes that regulate membrane deformation as a precursor to vesicle budding. He is funded by a UQ International Scholarship.
Matthew Jackman
Undergraduate trainee
Commencing Semester 2, 2017
Michael Landsberg
Senior Lecturer (Group Leader)
Michael's research is driven by a fundamental interest in protein recognition. We use information obtained from high resolution protein structures to understand how large, macromolecular machines are formed and in turn contribute to (or prevent) infection and disease.
Associates
Jannah Jeon
PhD student
Jannah is a joint PhD student with Prof. Bostjan Kobe who is using single particle EM and X-ray crystallography to study the structure of a large, mammalian, multifunctional enzyme complex involved in DNA biosynthesis.
Ana Silva
Visiting Postdoc
Ana is a postdoc in the lab of Prof. Joel Mackay who regularly visits the lab as part of an ongoing, NHMRC-funded collaborative project focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of DNA packaging.
Andrew Hedger
PhD student
Andrew is a joint PhD student with Prof. Bostjan Kobe who is using cryo-EM to study the structure of proteins that regulate higher order assembly formation in mammalian immune signalling pathways.
Alan Munn
Visiting Academic
Alan is a group leader at Griffith University. He is undertaking a sabbatical in our lab in the second half of 2017 to continue a long-standing collaboration aimed at developing and studying models of human virus infection in yeast.

Peter van der Heide (9/3/1981 - 4/1/2016)
Pete commenced his academic life at UQ as a PhD student working in the laboratory of Dr Brad Marsh. He developed computational tools that assisted with the visualisation of large and information-rich 3D image datasets such as those generated by electron tomography analysis of whole cells and subcellar organelles. Peter returned to UQ to complete his PhD studies as a member of our group but tragically passed away in early 2016. In late 2015, Pete started work on a book chapter with his good friends David Mastronarde and Eileen O'Toole at Boulder University Colorado. This is due to be published, dedicated to Pete's memory, in 2017.
